OLE!CONNECT is a digital media, marketing and consulting company which helps advertisers to reach highly targeted audiences with tailored messaging, making the marketing experience a positive one for advertiser and consumer alike.

Formed through the amalgamation of four specialised subsidiary companies into one ‘connected’ marketing and media business, OLE!CONNECT is a pioneer in the field of personalised, data-led marketing.

Through our Media & Publishing Division and the relationships we have forged with large online publishers, mobile networks and our own network of websites, combined with our data technology partnership with Oracle and IBM, we are able to provide advertisers with access to Africa’s largest and best understood digital audience and some of the best enterprise technology.

Our Marketing Solutions Division helps advertisers and brands to communicate as effectively as possible with these audiences by crafting focused marketing and advertising campaigns that include online and mobile platforms, tailored content and customised advertisements that are displayed to targeted audiences.

Through data layering that includes hundreds of information touchpoints covering online consumer behaviour, geographics and demographics, media consumption patterns, purchasing preferences as well as intentional propensities and more, we are able to personalise the marketing message and deliver it to a more receptive audience.

Our campaign management teams constantly monitor the efficacy and ‘click-rates’ of the ads, following the journey to determine how far the advertising route takes the customer, where the journey is interrupted, if there are noticeable trends which require intervention, or more.

Having pioneered the concept of data-led digital marketing in South Africa, we have spent three years refining not only our human expertise in data capture, interpretation and implementation, but have also built up a veritable arsenal of technology and platforms. We ‘connect the dots’ so our customers can connect with the people behind them.

Desere Orrill Executive Chairman and Co-founder

As co-founder, Desere’ served as CEO of the Ole! Media Group for two years and is now Executive Chairman of the Board.

She has her hands full keeping tabs on the C-Suite guys and their ‘cunning plans’, but luckily she’s an experienced trooper, having served at exec level in media, marketing and operations in organisations spanning 5 continents. In between her MBA and guest speaker engagements, she finds time to make pasta for the team once a month as part of her portfolio “People, Promotion, Progress”.

Tim Legg Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder

Most likely a comedian in his past life, you’ll usually find Tim armed with a good joke and a sales pitch that converts.

Our CEO, aka Lord Legg, spent decades developing skills in different parts of the world, from roles in media and recruitment, to ITC consulting and hospitality. A consummate entrepreneur, Tim has started companies in the UK, France, Germany and South Africa, and is co-founder of the Ole! Media Group, formerly comprising MobiMedia, TEAMtalk media, AddSuite and HoneyKome, and now known as OLE!CONNECT.

David Amos Chief Operations Officer

When not diving the depths of the ocean in scuba gear, or missioning through the Mother City on a motorbike, David is to be found burning the midnight oil working on tech projects and setting up video portals – just for fun.

Our COTO is a multi-skilled operator, adept at development, technology, operations, systems and processes. His experience spans the business consulting and mobile telecommunications sector with over 7 years acquired in both technical and business roles at leading mobile network operators and mobile platform service providers in Africa.

Always travelling, always learning, always strategising greater ways to improve business results and performance through effective digital marketing. As CSO or Chief Strategy Officer for the group, Pierre keeps the organisation client-focused and has helped us guide countless local and international clients to the most lucrative digital streams.

Tony Mallam Chief Financial Officer

Casually turning radio projects into thriving stations as a hobby, Tony is not only a tech-savvy, angel-investing entrepreneur, but a qualified CA (SA) and wine connoisseur.

Earning his stripes at the coal face of media in the good old days, he spent 6 years at the SABC in commercial radio and radio advertising, and has garnered experience in various media enterprises since then, at both financial and commercial level. Tony counts the beans, balances the books, and keeps us on the financial straight and narrow, helping to grow the business of the future.

Paul Stemmet Chief Data Officer

With a brain the size of a planet and a charming smile to match, our Chief Data Officer, aka Paul Stemmet, was one of the masterminds behind MXit.

Those of you who weren’t totally glued to this app during the first 15 years of the millennium won’t know what a tech-celeb Paul actually is. But, what’s important to know is that Paul has a knack for decoding the science behind audience building, software development, artificial intelligence, and large systems integration. And turning all that data into marketing know-how.

Maria, Maria, Maria! She’s probably one of the most charismatic humans you’ll ever meet.

With over 20 years in the marketing and advertising industry - on both client and agency side - Maria has worked with numerous household names. Her client-driven focus has enabled her to consistently deliver highly profitable business outputs. A veteran in her field, she is a great business leader and can cut to the chase with a minimum of fuss.

Stephan Potgieter Business Unit Manager Mobile and Publishing Solutions

Driving the mobile publishing business and setting new standards in engagement and monetisation levels for publishers, Stephan fully understands the ins and outs of the emerging media landscape.

Techy by day, author by night, he continuously presents innovative ways to improve business, from breathing life into a radio station, to migrating and digitising a linear broadcasting TV Channel or launching a new mobile publisher platform – and the needs of the consumer are always at the heart of what he does.

Luané Swart Head of Development

Paving the way for girls who code, competitive gamer, Luané Swart, heads up our development team at OLE!CONNECT. She’s been a software developer for more than a decade, and while her core code language is Java, she has built numerous mobile apps using the Ionic framework and is quite fond of Javascript/NodeJS and angularJS.

Hillel Chemel Head of Media & Insights

When he’s not jogging along the Atlantic Seaboard or tasting flavoursome dishes in foreign countries, Hillel heads up our Media and Insights division at OLE!CONNECT.

With a demonstrated history of working in the leisure, travel & tourism industry, Hillel is highly skilled in Digital Strategy, PPC, Market Research, and Management.

Dave Morris Senior Commercial Manager Mobile and Publishing Solutions

Once the back-up drummer for the Springbok Nude Girls, Dave Morris traversed the trenches as a rugby journalist in the UK and SA for a decade.

His gift of the gab, however, finally led him from the news team to the sales team, and Dave simply hasn’t looked back since! From writing stories to writing deals, Mr Morris has the expert knack for finding the right content for every publishing requirement. He initially focused on selling syndicated content to online publishers and has now expanded his portfolio to include mobile content solutions.

Brendt Brooks Business Unit Manager Mobile and Publishing Solutions

Most likely to be voted man-of-the-match at any sport that you can think of involving a ball, Brendt found a way to monetise his passion for people and networking, when he co-founded SA’s own Facebook, Blue World, more than a decade ago.

After selling Blue World Communities to Naspers in 2004, this inventive family-man fuelled his passion for sport and human interaction by heading up subscription services for sports, mobile games and digital portals at some of SA’s leading digital service providers. Brendt now manages and monetises digital products and services at OLE!CONNECT.

Shireen Mcwhite Group Talent Manager

A future contestant on Come Dine with Me, and an avid cuddler of fur babies, Shireen is not only a whizz in the kitchen but a trailblazing talent Manager with a Master’s Degree in Organisational psychology. Her portfolio spans across advertising, media, ecommerce and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and when she is not scouting for new talent or attending to resource initiatives, she can be found restaurant-hopping, or contributing to one of her many CSI programs, such a TEDx Cape Town.

Jade Hogg IT Manager - IT Department

Our very own Picasso and office Jock, Jade Hogg, is not only a wildly talented artist but also an Oracle when it comes to nearly any IT issue.

With over two decades spent in the IT industry, Jade is adept at resolving IT concerns related to staff, infrastructure, Microsoft, Linux and MAC OS.
